Nine games on the board tonight. We ran our full screen — odds no worse than −160, at least 80% over the last 10, across bases, hits, RBIs, runs, strikeouts, and the hits+runs+RBIs combo — and came away with well over a hundred candidates. After deduplicating players (several show up five or six times across overlapping combo lines, which is not five or six independent bets) and spreading the card across games instead of stacking one lineup, six survived.

The Card

Price note. −138 is the best number we could find on all six legs, but several books were quoting meaningfully worse — Jeffers in particular was as bad as −220 at one book we checked. Shop your line before you bet any of these; the Edge Gap math is built on the best price available, not the one your app shows you first.

The reasoning

Ryan Jeffers — Over 0.5 Hits. He's reached base with a hit in 9 of his last 10 and has cleared 0.5 hits in 11 straight games at home. Today's starter allows a slightly higher average to right-handed bats than his season number overall, which points the same direction as the pick — though that specific split is a smaller sample than we'd like, so we're treating it as a mild tailwind rather than the reason for the pick. Today's game is the outdoor one-off at the Field of Dreams site in Iowa; weather reads mild (73°F, light wind), nothing that should suppress contact.
Andruw Monasterio — Over 0.5 Hits. 90% over his last 10, 90% over his last 20, and a 74% full-season rate that's actually higher than his recent form — this isn't a hot streak getting overrated, the season number backs it up.
Steven Kwan — Over 0.5 Hits. The best recent form on the card: 100% over his last 5 and last 10, 90% over his last 20. His head-to-head number (73%) is also above his season rate, which is the kind of alignment we like to see rather than recent form running ahead of everything else.
Ronny Simon — Over 0.5 Bases. Full-season rate of 83% is the headline here — this isn't propped up by a hot last 10, the whole-season number is genuinely this strong, with a 100% head-to-head on top of it.
Wade Meckler — Over 0.5 Bases. 100% over his last 5, 90% over his last 10 and last 20, 100% head-to-head. The one caveat: he doesn't have a full prior-season track record to compare against, so this rate is built on a smaller total sample than a multi-year veteran — still real signal, just worth knowing.
Randal Grichuk — Over 0.5 Hits. Lowest Edge Gap on the card and the one we're least confident in: full-season rate is a more pedestrian 65%, with recent form (90–100%) doing most of the lifting. Included because the price still doesn't reflect even the season-long number, but this is the leg most likely to be the miss.

What we screened out

The odds filter is doing real work. Several props on today's board showed Edge Gaps north of +40 — the kind of number that looks incredible and is almost always a broken or stale line rather than real value. We verify anything in that range before it's allowed anywhere near a card, and none of today's survived that check, so none are published. If it isn't there, it isn't there.
Heavy stacking from a few lineups. Boston/Toronto and Philadelphia/Minnesota each produced five-plus qualifying legs on their own. Taking the best one from each spot and moving on kept this card from turning into two games wearing six different jerseys.

The case against our own #1 pick

The pitcher-matchup edge is thinner than it looks. The specific batter-vs-pitcher history between Jeffers and today's opposing starter is six plate appearances — nowhere near enough to mean anything, and we're not using it as a reason for the pick. The handedness-split argument we did use (starter allows more to right-handed bats than his overall average) is also built on a sample under our own 300-batters-faced threshold. Strip both of those away and this pick is really just "expensive line, real season-long rate, hot recent form" — a good bet, but not the multi-signal slam dunk the Edge Gap number alone suggests.
Today's park is a genuine wild card. This is a one-off outdoor game at a built-for-the-occasion field, not either team's home park. Wind and turf conditions at a temporary site are less predictable than a normal ballpark with years of data behind it.

We're keeping Jeffers at #1 because the price-to-history gap is real on its own terms. But the full case is weaker than a single "+29.0" number implies, and readers deserve to know that before they bet it.

Odds and lines move; everything above was recorded pregame and may differ by the time you read it. Always confirm your own price.
