Game Lines Debut: Moneyline, Spread & Total Picks

August 10, 2026 · All 10 games on tonight's slate

Everything we've published so far has been player props. Tonight we're testing a new category: game lines — moneyline, run line (spread), and total (over/under) — across the entire 10-game MLB slate. The underlying process is the same as our props methodology, adapted for team-level markets: starting pitcher form (both season-long and specifically against tonight's opponent), bullpen quality, team records, park/weather factors, and one signal that's new to this card — the gap between the public bet% and the money% on each side. When money is far more lopsided than bets, that's professional/sharp money weighing in, and we treat a big gap as a real signal worth following, especially on spread and total lines.

This is a first run at this format, so we're publishing the full slate rather than trimming hard, and flagging conflicting signals instead of hiding them. Every pick below is graded High or Moderate confidence based on how many of these factors lined up.

The Reasoning, By Market

Moneyline

#2 Astros ML: Houston is favored on a night SF is starting an unproven rookie (B. Tidwell, 0-0, 17 career innings) and playing without Correa, Birdsong, and Rodriguez. Public bets (78%) and money (81%) agree — no divergence, just a clean edge.
#4 Braves ML: Atlanta (71-47) against a Mets team playing out the string (52-67), with Bryce Elder's 3.69 ERA backing it up. Money and bets both sit at ~75-77% on Atlanta.
#6 Diamondbacks ML: Michael Soroka's 3.07 season ERA drops to 2.31 specifically against Colorado. Arizona is also the better team by 17 games. Public consensus 86% bets / 69% money.
#7 Red Sox ML: Boston (64-53) at home against a Jays team (56-63) starting Jameson Taillon, who's been rough this year (5.96 ERA). 87% of bets and 94% of the money is on Boston — about as lopsided as this slate gets.
#8 Brewers ML: Milwaukee has the best record in the National League (74-44). Straightforward chalk, but chalk for a real reason.
Not in the top 10 but worth a mention: Rays ML (-150) against a 5.64 ERA Athletics starter, and Dodgers ML (-255) with Tarik Skubal on the mound — both clean, both just priced too short to rank above better-value spots.

Run Line (Spread)

#3 Brewers -1.5 (flagged pitcher, followed the money): San Diego's Casey Mize has a shiny 1.50 ERA against Milwaukee, but that's a six-inning sample. The market isn't buying it as a reason to keep this game close — 94% of the money is on Milwaukee covering, despite bets splitting 50/50. We're siding with the money.
#9 Angels +1.5 (contrarian, largest divergence on the slate): Texas is favored and the Angels are 45-73, but 96% of the money is on LA to keep it within 2 — against just 47% of bets. That's about as extreme a bets-vs-money split as we saw anywhere tonight. We're not confident enough in a last-place team to call it High, but a gap this size is too large to ignore.
#10 Cardinals +1.5 (fade the public): Philadelphia is getting 65% of bets on the moneyline, but only 32% of the money — and on the run line specifically, 95% of the money is on St. Louis to cover. Real money doesn't agree with the public here.

Total (Over/Under)

#1 HOU/SF Under 8.5 (highest-confidence pick on the entire slate): 94% of the money is on the Under — the single most lopsided number we found tonight. It lines up with everything else about this game: a cool 65°F night at pitcher-friendly Oracle Park (94 park factor, 27th-ranked), and a Giants lineup missing three regulars.
#5 COL/AZ Under 8.5: 92% of the money is on the Under even though 75% of public bets are on the Over — a big reverse split. Soroka's strong specific history against Colorado supports a lower-scoring game than the raw Chase Field heat (105°F, retractable roof) might suggest.
What we're still figuring out: several totals had real conflicts we couldn't fully resolve on a first pass — Boston/Toronto's Under carried 92% of the money despite a 70% Over hit-rate trend, and Tampa Bay/Athletics sits at an extreme hitter-friendly park (114 factor, 1st in MLB) with a poor opposing starter, which argues Over even though the money leaned Under. We left both off the ranked list rather than force a call either way. That's a gap we'll tighten up as we run this format more.
