Six Of Our Biggest Edges Were All The Same Bet In The Same Ballpark

Ten games, every line, and a lean or an honest no-lean on each. The Edge Gap screen loaded up on Unders at Coors Field, so we threw out our six biggest numbers and explain why.

Lines captured from our data platform at 5:15 PM ET, Monday August 17. Every game below was still ahead of first pitch when this published. Preseason-style caveat applies to baseball too: these move, and you should confirm your own price before acting on anything here.

The finding that shaped this card

Six of the eleven biggest Edge Gaps on tonight's board are Unders, all in the same game, all at Coors Field. Freddie Freeman Under 1.5 Bases at +25.1. Teoscar Hernández has four separate Unders between +21.4 and +24.7. Connor Norby Under 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBIs at +19.2.

We dropped all six. Coors Field is the most run-inflating park in baseball. A screen that surfaces six Dodgers Unders there is not finding value — it is finding a park factor the hit-rate history was never adjusted for. Those rates were built in Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Diego. Tonight is a mile above sea level.

This is the matchup layer earning its place. Edge Gap ranked those six at the top of the board; the matchup gate threw all of them out. If we published purely on Edge Gap, tonight's card would be six Coors Unders and it would be the worst card we have ever put out.

The honest counter: the matchup layer went 0-for-3 on its drops in its first week, and every leg it vetoed would have won. Three legs is not a sample. But we are not going to pretend the layer has earned trust it has not earned — we are applying it because the park-factor logic is sound, not because the layer has a record.

Two rows we excluded, and a correction to why

The board listed Pete Alonso under Baltimore @ Tampa Bay and Isaac Collins under Athletics @ Kansas City. Neither matched the rosters we had in mind, and our first instinct was that the data was wrong.

That instinct was probably the error, not the data. Our own 6am run pulled Isaac Collins in that same game independently. Two separate pulls agreeing is far better evidence of a roster move we had not registered than of a feed problem. We were checking an August 2026 slate against rosters we remembered, and players move.

We still left both out — but the honest reason is we could not verify the transaction before first pitch, not that the listing was wrong. That distinction matters. "We could not confirm it in time" is a real reason to pass. "The source is broken" is an accusation, and we did not have the evidence for it.

Game by game

BAL at TB

Baltimore Orioles @ Tampa Bay Rays

6:05 PM ET
Moneyline
BAL +154 / TB −153
Run Line
BAL +1.5 −144 / TB −1.5 +148
Total
O 7.5 −108 / U 7.5 +109
Baltimore at 61–63 against a Tampa Bay side sitting 74–49 — a thirteen-game gap in the standings priced at almost a coin flip. That is the market telling you it does not believe the records. our data platform flags EV+ on the Baltimore moneyline and on Tampa Bay −1.5, which is an unusual pair: the value is on the dog to win outright or the favourite to win comfortably, with nothing in between.
no lean

The total is the cleanest thing here at 7.5 with near-even juice, but we have no read that separates it from a coin flip. The moneyline split is interesting and not actionable — two EV+ badges pointing opposite directions is noise, not signal.
MIA at PHI

Miami Marlins @ Philadelphia Phillies

6:40 PM ET
Moneyline
MIA +230 / PHI −230
Run Line
MIA +1.5 +110 / PHI −1.5 −111
Total
O 8.5 +103 / U 8.5 −104
This is the biggest gap between price and record on the board. Miami are 64–61. Philadelphia are 67–58. Three games apart in the standings, and the market is pricing Miami as a 30% underdog. our data platform flags EV+ on the Marlins moneyline and on the Over.
60%
Confidence
Miami +230. A +230 price implies 30.3%; two teams three games apart in the standings do not split 70/30. Some of that gap is starting pitching we have not fully priced, which is exactly why this is 60 and not higher. Small stake, real number.
STL at CIN

St. Louis Cardinals @ Cincinnati Reds

6:40 PM ET
Moneyline
STL −111 / CIN +112
Run Line
STL −1.5 +142 / CIN +1.5 −144
Total
O 8.5 −125 / U 8.5 +121
A genuine pick'em between two teams five games apart. The total is the tell: Over 8.5 at −125 against Under at +121 is a meaningful lean toward runs in a park that supports it. our data platform flags EV+ on the Cincinnati moneyline.
61%
Confidence
Elly De La Cruz Under 1.5 Bases at −150 is our lean out of this game — a +12.5 Edge Gap on a blended 72.5. It is on the card. Note the tension: we are taking a hitter Under in a game the market is pricing toward runs. That is a real conflict and it is why this sits mid-tier rather than top.
DET at PIT

Detroit Tigers @ Pittsburgh Pirates

7:05 PM ET
Moneyline
DET −100 / PIT +101
Run Line
DET −1.5 +163 / PIT +1.5 −167
Total
O 8.5 −101 / U 8.5 +100
The most evenly priced game of the night, in every market. Moneyline −100/+101, total −101/+100. Detroit 60–64, Pittsburgh 61–65 — one game apart. our data platform flags EV+ on Pittsburgh.
no lean

No lean. When a book prices something at −100/+101 it is telling you it has no opinion, and neither do we. A true coin flip with vig on it is a losing bet by definition. This is the game we are most comfortable ignoring.
SD at NYM

San Diego Padres @ New York Mets

7:10 PM ET
Moneyline
SD +115 / NYM −116
Run Line
SD +1.5 −176 / NYM −1.5 +175
Total
O 7.5 −112 / U 7.5 +110
San Diego at 67–58 are underdogs to a Mets side at 56–69 — eleven games worse. That is home field and starting pitching doing a lot of work in one number. The 7.5 total is the lowest on the board tonight, which says both books expect a pitchers' duel.
72%
Confidence
Jake Cronenworth Over 0.5 Bases at −155, +11.7 Edge Gap on a blended 72.5, and our data platform independently flags it EV+ — the only leg on our card where their model and ours agree without prompting. Modest gap, but the agreement is what we are buying.
ARI at BOS

Arizona Diamondbacks @ Boston Red Sox

7:10 PM ET
Moneyline
AZ +125 / BOS −127
Run Line
AZ +1.5 −163 / BOS −1.5 +160
Total
O 8.5 −117 / U 8.5 +115
Two teams separated by half a game — Arizona 66–59, Boston 66–58 — with Boston getting the home number. our data platform flags EV+ on Boston −1.5, meaning the model likes the Red Sox to win by two or more rather than simply to win.
no lean

Gabriel Moreno Over 0.5 Hits screened at 100% L5, 100% L10 and 80% L20 — but the best price we could find was −250, which implies 71.4% and leaves an Edge Gap of about +11. That is outside our −160 odds floor, so it does not go on the card. Good player, wrong price.
ATL at MIN

Atlanta Braves @ Minnesota Twins

7:40 PM ET
Moneyline
ATL −122 / MIN +121
Run Line
ATL −1.5 +135 / MIN +1.5 −136
Total
O 9.5 +114 / U 9.5 −115
Atlanta at 74–50 are the best team playing tonight and are only −122 on the road. The 9.5 total is the second-highest on the board. our data platform flags EV+ on Minnesota's moneyline and on Atlanta −1.5.
69%
Confidence
Byron Buxton Under 0.5 Runs at −105 — the largest Edge Gap we are actually publishing tonight at +22.5, on a blended 73.7. Near-even money on a leg our history rates at nearly three-in-four. The caution: this is our top pick and it lives in the game with the highest total on the board outside Coors.
ATH at KC

Athletics @ Kansas City Royals

7:40 PM ET
Moneyline
ATH +170 / KC −172
Run Line
ATH +1.5 −120 / KC −1.5 +117
Total
O 8.5 −120 / U 8.5 +117
The two worst records on the slate — Athletics 49–75, Royals 51–74 — and the market still separates them by 170 points of moneyline. No EV+ badges anywhere in this game, which is itself information: our data platform's model sees nothing mispriced here either.
75%
Confidence
Two Royals Unders: Carter Jensen Under 1.5 Bases (−143, +15.0 gap) and Salvador Perez Under 1.5 Bases (−155, +12.0 gap). Both are on the card. They are from the same game, so they are correlated — the parlay builder will flag it if you take both, and it is right to.
CWS at CHC

Chicago White Sox @ Chicago Cubs

8:05 PM ET
Moneyline
CWS +147 / CHC −148
Run Line
CWS +1.5 −140 / CHC −1.5 +141
Total
O 8.5 +115 / U 8.5 −115
The crosstown game, and the White Sox at 65–58 are a much better team than their underdog price suggests against a Cubs side at 72–53. our data platform flags EV+ twice on the same side — the White Sox moneyline and the White Sox +1.5 — which is the clearest single-direction signal on tonight's board.
62%
Confidence
White Sox +1.5 at −140. Seven games separate these teams and the run line gives you a buffer at a reasonable price. Two EV+ badges pointing the same way is the strongest agreement we found tonight. Not higher than 62 because we could not pull the public betting split before publishing.
LAD at COL

Los Angeles Dodgers @ Colorado Rockies

8:40 PM ET
Moneyline
LAD −250 / COL +245
Run Line
LAD −1.5 −158 / COL +1.5 +156
Total
O 10.5 −113 / U 10.5 +111
The 10.5 total is the highest on the board by a full run, and that is Coors doing what Coors does. Dodgers 74–51 against Rockies 50–74 is the biggest talent gap of the night, priced accordingly. our data platform flags EV+ on Colorado.
no lean

No lean, and this is the most important no-lean on the card. Six of our eleven biggest Edge Gaps came out of this game, every one of them an Under, and we dropped all six on park factor. Having thrown out the Unders on principle, we are not going to turn around and take a side or a total in the same game. Sitting it out entirely is the consistent position.

The strongest argument against our #1

Byron Buxton Under 0.5 Runs is our top published leg at a +22.5 Edge Gap, and the case against it is straightforward: his blended rate leans heavily on a 53% season number being dragged upward by a 100% last-ten. Ten games is ten games. Strip the recency weighting and the gap shrinks to something far less interesting.

Worse, the leg is a scoring Under in the highest-total non-Coors game on the board — Atlanta at 74–50 against a Minnesota team at home, with the market setting 9.5 runs. We are betting a leadoff-capable hitter does not cross the plate in a game both books expect to be busy. The Edge Gap is real. The context is working against it.

What we could not do in time

We did not pull public betting splits for any game. First pitch on the earliest game was under an hour away when this research started, and we chose to publish the lines and the props we had verified rather than hold everything for splits we could not confirm in time. The two team picks below carry confidence numbers of 60 and 62 rather than anything higher specifically because that layer is missing. Tomorrow's 6am run has the runway to include it.
