NCAAF Week 2, Saturday: Forty-Five Games, the Sharp Money's Dogs, Three Lopsided Totals, and the Portal Mirage on the Prop Board

The full Saturday slate in kickoff order: sixteen sides and totals where the two books' money and the ratings line up (Duke, Temple, Georgia Tech, Old Dominion, Arizona, three totals), twelve panel-scored props with the why on every tile, and nineteen transfer-portal mirages declined by name.

Published Fri Sep 11 · 10:35 PM ET · every platform-carried game with a verdict · 2,673-line props sweep, 337 screen survivors, 36 panels, 10 injury tabs · two-book splits with tags, three ratings, Stability/Game-2 systems, 82-pick expert room · card format v3: updates land in the game blocks with an Updated stamp
Edge Gap does not apply here. It needs hit-rate history, and these players don't have usable history for this slate. Forcing it would produce something that looks rigorous and isn't. Playing time is the entire handicap below.

Saturday, Week 2 — forty-five games on the board, sixteen sides and totals, twelve props, and every verdict printed

This is the big day and we ran it like one: every game the platform carries got the Match Details pass, the Props board was swept in full (2,673 lines across the ten core markets; 337 survived the screen; 36 panels opened; 10 injury tabs read), and every verdict below was argued against a Las Vegas betting network's two-book money splits, three published power-rating systems, the season guide's Stability and Game-2 systems, and an 82-pick expert room. Games run in kickoff order. Sides and totals carry a conviction number; props carry a Prop Score and the why. Where the layers disagree, we say so and sit out — a 45-game slate should not produce 45 leans, and this one produced sixteen.

The shape of the slate: the sharp money's favorite pattern this week is the double-digit home dog that got embarrassed last Saturday — Georgia Tech, Duke, Temple, Old Dominion, Arizona — and the ratings agree on most of them. The public's favorite pattern is the ranked road favorite. We are on the dogs where the books' dollars and the models line up, off them where they don't (Wake–Purdue, USF–Army, UNLV–North Texas, Pitt), and on three totals where both books' money is lopsided the same way (Alabama–Kentucky Under, Duke–Illinois Under, Iowa State–Iowa Over). Strongest argument against the card's #1 (Duke +6.5): Illinois scored 45 on this defense last year, and a run-first road dog that falls behind early has no second plan.

Props, honestly: the screen's favorite trick this week is the transfer-portal mirage — a backup's perfect 2025 windows priced against a starter's 2026 line (Grunkemeyer, Mendoza, Taylor, Hammond) or a 10%-share receiver priced as a WR1 (Branch, Webb, Anderson, Phillips, Hicks). Every one is on the record as declined. The plays are volume reads with the script on their side: blowout unders on the starters who leave early, a three-touchdown dog's quarterback who throws all day, and two Ohio State–Texas volume overs.

⚡ What changed since the Friday-night publish (re-verified Sat Sep 12 · 11:29 AM ET, platform board + both books' splits 11:03–11:25 AM ET): The line kept coming to the dog — the public book deals Michigan +5.5, the market-maker +5, our platform +4.5 — a half-to-full point of the right kind of movement since publish. But the money rotated: the market-maker's dollars are now 78% Oklahoma (they were 45% Michigan on 16% of tickets at publish — the sharpest print on Friday's slate has switched sides), and the public book's money is 82% Oklahoma on 67% of tickets. The total is a two-book argument: the market-maker's dollars are 69% Under with us (the platform still badges the Under EV+), the public book's money 62% Over — when the sharp books split, the platform badge and the ratings keep the Under a play at 54, and the Michigan side stays 53: the line move and the money move offset, both printed. Underwood U28.5 pass attempts: the main line came off the board near kick (11:10 AM); the leg stands as published. Forecast improved to 75°F, dry, wind 9. Michigan's quarterback play since the 2023 title is the story of this line: 24 touchdown passes against 24 picks in 27 games, 5.8 yards a dropback (109th), and Bryce Underwood has five touchdowns to eight interceptions in his last seven. Kyle Whittingham inherited that and nearly lost his opener to Western Michigan with an extra second on the clock. Oklahoma's defense is the kind he cannot get healthy against. And yet the number has come down: −5.5 at the public book, −4.5 at the market-maker and on our platform, with the platform's EV+ badge sitting on both Michigan's money line and the Under. The matchup panel: Oklahoma allowed the 14th-fewest pass attempts in its opener; Michigan's tight end Hogan Hansen and RB Donovan Johnson are Questionable, and OU's Tory Blaylock is Probable. Whittingham's Utah teams won ugly with the run and the defense; the total says the market expects exactly that.
💸 THE CROWD VS THE CASH. Public book: Oklahoma −5.5 carries 78% of the money on 85% of the tickets; the Under 43.5 has 79% of the money on 34% of tickets. Market-making book: Oklahoma −4.5 has 84% of the tickets but only 55% of the money — Michigan's 45% of dollars on 16% of tickets is a 29-point gap, the sharpest number on the slate. Tags: CONTRARIAN + SHARP (Michigan); SHARP (Under, public book). Ratings: three published systems make this a pick'em — Oklahoma by 0.1, 2.2 and 2.1 — every one of them well under the number. Systems, split and printed: the season guide's Stability System A plays ON Oklahoma −5.5 (edge 6+), and its new-head-coach fade is AGAINST Michigan. The network's expert room: 2 on Michigan, 1 on Oklahoma, 3 on the Under.
🎯 MICHIGAN +4.5 (+100) — conviction 53. UNDER 43.5 (+105) — conviction 54. The sharp book's money, all three ratings, and the price all point at the dog; the systems and the quarterback point the other way, and that is why this is a 53 and not a 58. The Under is the cleaner bet: 79% of public-book money on a third of the tickets, three of the room on it, and a Michigan offense that has to protect its own defense. Argument against the side: Underwood is the worst quarterback on the slate in a spot where the defense has to be perfect.

⚡ What changed since the Friday-night publish (re-verified Sat Sep 12 · 11:29 AM ET, platform board + both books' splits 11:03–11:25 AM ET): Reed U249.5 is the best CLV on the card: the public book cut his line to 235.5 — FOURTEEN points toward the read since publish (panel reopened: median 227, average 232.6, L10 70%, 2026 100% at the new number). The market spent our news; the ticket we printed at 249.5 is the whole edge now. Injury tab: both A&M season-outs are old news; Reed clean. Leg stands at 56. Both teams won their openers by a combined 120-7 against opponents that were, in ESPN's phrase, worse than Clemson. Cutter Boley threw six touchdowns for Arizona State against Morgan State; Kenny Dillingham is the best quarterback whisperer in the sport and Texas A&M is the first real test of a team with national-title ambitions. The matchup panel: the Aggies allowed the fewest receiving yards in the country last week (n=1); Arizona State the 12th-fewest passing yards. 91 degrees at noon in College Station is a fourth-quarter handicap for the visitor.
💸 THE CROWD VS THE CASH. Public book: Texas A&M −14.5 has 66% of the tickets but Arizona State holds 71% of the money on 34% of tickets (SHARP, +37). Market-making book: Texas A&M 67% of money on 60% of tickets — the two books disagree on the side, which is our stay-away signal. Ratings: three systems say A&M by 15.5–16.8, all above the number. Systems split: 17+ returning starters ON A&M; the new-DC fade is AGAINST A&M. Room: 3 on Arizona State, 1 on the Over.
🎯 🎰 NO VALUE — STAY AWAY at TAMU −14.5. Sharp money at the public book on the dog, sharp money at the market-maker on the favorite, and three ratings that like the favorite by a point or two — the books disagree on the side, and when they disagree we don't pick a side of their argument. ⚡ What changed since the Friday-night publish (re-verified Sat Sep 12 · 11:29 AM ET, platform board + both books' splits 11:03–11:25 AM ET): Consolidation, printed: 90% of the public book's tickets and 91% of its money are on Penn State, and the market-maker's dollars went 73% PSU — nobody but us and the tickets column at the market-maker (52%) is on the Owl side of 24. The board deals 23.5/24; our +24.5 is the best number in the market and the whole thesis was the number. Holds at 57. Penn State's defensive coordinator called this Temple's Super Bowl. Temple's own coach might not disagree — the Owls will see a full stadium at home for once — and the number has drifted a full field goal from where the season guide projected it. The matchup panel: the Nittany Lions are a −1900 favorite; the ratings edge is the argument, and it is unanimous.
💸 THE CROWD VS THE CASH. Public book: Penn State −23.5 has 97% of the money on 95% of the tickets — the most lopsided number on the board. Market-making book: Temple +24 draws 59% of the money on 25% of tickets (SHARP, +34). Tags: CONTRARIAN + SHARP + ratings — ALIGNED. Ratings: Penn State by 19.9, 18.5 and 20.5 — four to six points under the market. Systems: Stability System A plays ON Temple +23.5; the new-head-coach and System B fades are AGAINST Penn State. Room: 2 on Temple, 1 on the Over.
🎯 TEMPLE +24.5 (−108) — conviction 57. Every layer we run agrees: the public is 95% on one side, the sharp book's dollars are on the other, all three ratings say the number is four to six points fat, and the systems say the same. A 24.5-point spread is inside our range by half a point, so it is sized like it — this is a number bet, not a Temple bet. Argument against: garbage-time touchdowns decide 24-point games, and Penn State's depth chart is a different sport.
Props: Howard U47.5 rec yds (Penn State's WR? — a 100% season window on a line built for a starter; watch); Brahmer O20.5 rec yds (83% season, no 2026 read — watch); Hansen O11.5 rush att (blowout carries — plausible, not panel-read).

The dissent is the script — a three-touchdown dog abandons the run — which is why script scores 0 and this is three stars, not four. Fourteen carries is a low bar for a lead back even in a loss.

⚡ What changed since the Friday-night publish (re-verified Sat Sep 12 · 11:29 AM ET, platform board + both books' splits 11:03–11:25 AM ET): The dollars finished consolidating on the Hokies: 87% at the public book (on 82% of tickets), 74% at the market-maker. What's left on Old Dominion is our ticket and the contrarian read — 18% of public tickets is exactly the fade shape the doctrine wants, with no sharp confirmation anywhere. Holds at 55, dissent printed; displayed price updates to −104. Marcellous Hawkins' attempts line sits 13.5 — not our player, noted only because the name collides with the Oregon leg. James Franklin's Virginia Tech debut was 73-3 over VMI with 18.5 tackles for loss. Nobody was worried about that one. Old Dominion is the program that ended the Fuente era (49-35 in 2018), embarrassed the Pry era (20-17 in 2022, the elevator game), and rolled the Hokies 45-26 last season — three wins in four meetings. The matchup panel: Virginia Tech's RB Bill Davis and three receivers (Heath, Peterkin, Stuewe) are Questionable; the Hokies' new quarterback is a transfer with a backup's sample (see the tile).
💸 THE CROWD VS THE CASH. Public book: Virginia Tech −19.5 has 82% of the money on 87% of tickets. Market-maker: Old Dominion +19 draws 70% of the money on 26% of tickets (SHARP, +44). 🎯 OLD DOMINION +19.5 (+100) — conviction 55. The sharp book's dollars, two ratings, two systems, and the one series history that actually rhymes: ODU has covered this matchup three times in four tries by winning it outright. ⚡ What changed since the Friday-night publish (re-verified Sat Sep 12 · 11:29 AM ET, platform board + both books' splits 11:03–11:25 AM ET): The market moved to Duke: +5.5 on our platform, +6 at both splits books, off the published +6.5 — a full point toward the dog with the tickets (61% at the public book) while BOTH books' dollars lean Illinois (61% public / 68% market-maker). That is a tickets-versus-dollars argument against the card's #1 and it prints at full volume; the line move and the hook we hold are the other side of it. Conviction holds at 58 on the number we own — at +5.5 today we would not add. Forster is still Questionable (knee) on the platform's injury tab — the Laughery U10.5-attempts cap stands, and the board line on Laughery is 10.5, flat. Under 51.5: the market-maker's total money is 88% Under with us; displayed price improves to +106. Last year's 45-19 Illinois win in Durham is the number everyone remembers and the box score nobody read: Duke outgained Illinois with thirteen fewer minutes of possession and lost on five turnovers. Duke's opener told you what it plans to do about that — Nate Sheppard ran for 227 yards and two scores, Tulane went 3-of-16 on third and fourth down, and the ball stayed on the ground. The matchup panel: Duke allowed the 26th-fewest rush attempts in its opener; Illinois' Alex Perry is OUT, Jayshon Platt Doubtful, and RB John Forster Questionable; Duke's Javen Nicholas is Questionable. 88 degrees and still.

🎯 DUKE +6.5 (−110) — conviction 58, the top of the card. UNDER 51.5 (−102) — conviction 55. Sharp dollars at both books, three ratings under the number, a system on our side, and a Duke identity — run it, defend it, keep the ball — that fits a 6.5-point dog exactly. Argument against the #1: Illinois scored 45 on this defense a year ago, and Duke's offense without the turnovers still has to score. The Under is the same read from the other side, and it is the one bet on the slate where the public and the sharps are holding hands.

Both sharp rooms lopsided the same way against a published leg is the loudest dissent this card has carried, and our own Thursday ledger wrote the candidate rule for exactly this shape. Alabama's injury report is a defensive-backfield casualty list: CBs Zyan Gibson, Nick Sherman and Jorden Edmonds are out, with LB Cayden Jones, DL Jeremiah Beaman and WR Noah Rogers; RB AK Dear is now OUT on the platform's tab and OL Michael Carroll is doubtful. Kentucky is without RB Tovani Mizell for the season. A 39% rain chance at kickoff is the only weather on the marquee slate. 💸 THE CROWD VS THE CASH. Public book: Eastern Michigan +17.5 has 63% of the money on 41% of tickets (SHARP, +22). Market-maker: Eastern Michigan 57% / 58% — even. ⚡ What changed since the Friday-night publish (re-verified Sat Sep 12 · 11:29 AM ET, platform board + both books' splits 11:03–11:25 AM ET): The market kept walking away: Boise −8.5/−9 on the boards against our published −9.5, and the public book's DOLLARS are 67% Memphis on 55% of tickets — a real money print on the other side, while the market-maker's money leans Boise 56% on 78% tickets (public-shaped, not sharp). Books disagreeing on the side is our own stay-away test; the published leg can't be un-bet, so it gets the honest treatment instead: conviction re-sized 55 → 50, the −8.5 board named, the dissent printed. A case can be made that these are the two best Group of Six teams in the country — and another loss would put Boise State's playoff case in the ground in Week 2. The number has moved three points toward Boise since the lookahead and the market-maker's money says it isn't done. The matchup panel: Memphis ranked 119th vs receiving yards and 85th vs rushing yards in its opener.

⚡ What changed since the Friday-night publish (re-verified Sat Sep 12 · 11:29 AM ET, platform board + both books' splits 11:03–11:25 AM ET): The board pays +12/+12.5 on the Yellow Jackets now, a point past our +11.5 — and the money explains it backwards: 71% of the public book's spread dollars sit on Tennessee while Georgia Tech holds 91% of the market-maker's TICKETS against only 42% of its money. Crowd on the dog, cash on the favorite, at both books. Conviction re-sized 56 → 53: the line drift is friendly, the dollars are not, and both get printed. Georgia Tech was run over at home by Colorado — 46 designed runs, nine more than any game of Deion Sanders' tenure — and the number has doubled from the 6.5 lookahead. That is the setup: the market is pricing the embarrassment. DeSean Bishop ran for 97 last week against a defense that couldn't stop Colorado; the 112th-ranked run defense he faces is the one part of Tech's tape that is real. Tennessee's Joakim Dodson is out for the season; Tech's Jaiven Plummer is Questionable. The matchup panel: Tennessee allowed the 4th-fewest passing yards and 31st-fewest attempts in its opener.
💸 THE CROWD VS THE CASH. Public book: Tennessee −11.5 has 70% of the tickets but Georgia Tech holds 62% of the money on 30% of tickets (SHARP, +32). Market-maker: Georgia Tech 93% of money on 29% of tickets (SHARP, +64 — the biggest gap on the slate). Tags: CONTRARIAN + SHARP at both books. 🎯 GEORGIA TECH +11.5 (+102) — conviction 56. Both books' sharp dollars, all three ratings, the room, and a line that moved five points on one bad Friday night. Sharp money on the Over at both books against a number that opened as the lowest on the slate; the platform's 40.5 is a full point better than Vegas. On the side: the sharp book likes Iowa State, the ratings and systems like Iowa by twenty — no bet. Argument against the Over: Iowa's defensive line just allowed seven rushing yards, and a 41.5 total in a rivalry game has a way of being right.

A hundred yards of cushion is a Sun Belt number and it's discounted accordingly — but 151.5 is a low bar for a quarterback who threw 38 times a game and whose new team passed for 195 in its opener. Iowa's defense is the real opponent and the reason opp scores 0.5, not 1.5; a two-touchdown dog still has to throw. The Cy-Hawk total is 41.5, which is the printed dissent.

⚡ Dabo Swinney thinks the road to 11-1 starts here. Clemson has lost 17 of its last 40 against Power conference opponents; before that it had lost 17 of 122. Georgia Southern is not a Power opponent, which is the whole reason the number is 19.5. The number has climbed nine from the lookahead. ⚡ What changed since the Friday-night publish (re-verified Sat Sep 12 · 11:29 AM ET, platform board + both books' splits 11:03–11:25 AM ET): Three blowout-block legs re-verified with reopened panels. D. Williams U338.5 P+R (USU@WASH): the board moved TWELVE points against the read — his line is 350.5 now (median 274.5, L10 90%; a 12-point climb into a 27.5-point spread says the market expects the starter to stay in and stack yards). Negative CLV, named as such; conviction re-sized 57 → 52 with the early-exit script carrying the whole bet. Roebuck U77.5: board 76.5, a point our way; stands at 53. Carr U251.5 (RICE@ND): a 7-point retrace to 258.5/264.5 after Friday's 14-point cut (median 215, avg 224, L10 70%) — the books took back half the move; the cushion still clears 40 and the leg stands, trimmed 55 → 52, printed. Utah State @ Washington (3:30), Texas Tech @ Oregon State (7:30), Bowling Green @ Nebraska (7:00), Southern Miss @ Auburn (7:45), Louisiana Tech @ LSU (7:30), Rice @ Notre Dame (3:30), Charlotte @ Ole Miss (7:45), Louisiana @ USC (11:00) — plus WKU @ Georgia above. Spreads of 25 and up are noise, not numbers: the fourth quarter is decided by who the coaches leave on the field. We rate the props (the blowout script is the edge — starters exit early) and we do not touch the sides. Notes for the record: the sharp book's money is on Utah State +27 (67% on 9% of tickets), Oregon State +26 (63/44) and Louisiana Tech +35 (36/10); the ratings say Notre Dame, Ole Miss and Washington by more than their numbers; Texas Tech's new-HC/System B fades and Stability A play collide.
