NFL Week 1, Thursday: 49ers @ Rams in Melbourne — Sharp Money on the Dog, Kittle's Tag, and Kyren Williams' Yards Without the Carries

Melbourne, final: the market-maker's +4 vanished under 77% of its money on San Francisco, the total dropped to 47.5, Kittle cleared but his line got cut anyway, and Kyren Williams' rushing line handed back three yards of CLV.

Card format v3 · updated in place Tue Sep 8 · 11:47 PM ET — the positional board: QB · WR1 · WR2 · WR3 · RB · TE for both teams, every one rated with its why · lines, splits and injury tabs re-verified · published legs grade at their first-published price · gameday pass Thu Sep 10 · 7:19 AM ET · evening platform pass 6:26 PM ET — full sweep re-run (873 rows), every panel re-opened; the market-maker's +4 is gone under 77% of its money on San Francisco; total cut to 47.5
Edge Gap does not apply here. It needs hit-rate history, and these players don't have usable history for this slate. Forcing it would produce something that looks rigorous and isn't. Playing time is the entire handicap below.

Thursday night — Friday morning in Melbourne

A cricket ground, a fifteen-hour flight, and a 10:35 AM local kickoff. Both rosters are jet-lagged; only one of them lost its WR1 to a left-squad list — and since Sunday the money has picked a side.

⚡ The first regular-season game ever played in Australia, at a cricket ground, at 10:35 in the morning local time. What changed by the evening platform pass (Thu Sep 10 · 6:26 PM ET): the board came back up at 6:19 PM and the sweep re-ran clean — 873 rows, every published panel re-opened, every median intact. The market finished its work: the market-maker's +4 is gone, and the total was cut a full point to 47.5. The line moves went almost entirely our way — Nacua's DFS line chased two points toward our number, Kyren Williams' rushing line gave back three of the yards we bought, and the only board still moving against us is Kittle's, cut again to 8.5 after he cleared, which reads like a snap plan the books know and nobody printed. From the morning's final report: the final report broke almost entirely San Francisco's way. Kittle, Bosa, Greenlaw, Green and Juszczyk are all CLEARED — every Tuesday Questionable came off the list, and the VOID clause comes off the Kittle leg. The remaining San Francisco damage is structural: Alfred Collins is out for the season (torn patellar tendon in Tuesday's practice), Mykel Williams out, Hobbs on IR, Pearsall and Kirk on injured reserve, Aiyuk suspended. Los Angeles goes the other direction: Aaron Donald did not travel and is inactive (McVay confirmed it Tuesday), and CB Jaylen Watson (toe) is Questionable off a limited week — the interior push that punishes Purdy and the corner depth behind Watson are both diminished. Matthew Stafford is healthy off the MVP season; Purdy (nine games in 2025, turf toe) is healthy and throwing to Evans, Deebo Samuel and Demarcus Robinson by default. The market: the Rams opened −8 on the lookahead and are −3.5 — and +4 for San Francisco is posted at the market-making book. The matchup panel: the Rams allowed the 26th-most pass attempts and the 25th-most receptions to running backs; the 49ers allowed the 25th-most passing yards and the 23rd-most receiving yards, and ranked 8th at limiting rush attempts. That is the whole prop board in two sentences: McCaffrey's catches and Purdy's play-count on one side, Stafford's and Nacua's volume on the other, and Kyren Williams' yards without the carries.
💸 THE CROWD VS THE CASH. Evening pass (Thu Sep 10 · 6:26 PM ET): the public book has Rams −3.5 at 56% of the money on 62% of the tickets — the public money kept draining off the favorite all day (71% Tuesday, 59% this morning, 56% now). Market-making book: the +4 is gone — it now deals +3.5 with 77% of its money on San Francisco against 53% of tickets, a twenty-four-point dollar gap: the morning's downgrade reverses, the full SHARP tag is back, and it's the loudest print of the week on this game. That book also cut its total to 47.5; the platform cut to 47.5 as well, into 58% of platform money on the Over — a reverse move toward the Under, printed, not played (the signal grades 1-for-9 on our books). The platform's own per-market betting: 62% of spread tickets on Los Angeles with only 56% of the money. Line tracker: +4 (−110) at the market-maker, +3.5 (−105) at three books, +3.5 (+100) at two; 48 at four Nevada books, 48.5 at three, 49 at one. Ratings: three published systems make it Rams by 2.2, 3.3 and 2.4 — all under the market. The network's expert room: 8 on San Francisco (seven at +3.5/+4, one on the money line), none on the Rams; two on the Under. Tags: CONTRARIAN (public book 62% tickets on the favorite) + SHARP (77% of the market-maker's dollars on the dog at +3.5 — the gap re-widened to 24 points by lock). The total is the market's loudest opinion this week — 84% of sharp-book money on the Under — and we don't have a projection of our own to argue with it, so it is printed, not played.
🎯 THE FINAL VERDICT: SAN FRANCISCO +3.5 (published at −104; +4 posted at the market-maker) — conviction 58, up from 57 on the final report. The health ledger flipped: Bosa, Kittle, Greenlaw, Green and Juszczyk all cleared while Aaron Donald stays home in Los Angeles — the dog gets its whole spine and the favorite loses its interior. The ratings (all under the number), the 8-0 expert room and the market-maker's dollars still lean San Francisco against 67% of public tickets. Argument against, printed: the sharp dollar gap narrowed to two points overnight — the smart side is quieter than it was Tuesday — and Stafford is still the MVP with the better receivers. The +4 we told you to hunt is gone — the sharp side took every one of them; +3.5 (+103 on the platform board) is the number that's left, and the sharp book is dealing it with 77% of its own money already on it.

Cleared off the injury tab since Sunday (he was Questionable). The Tampa median was 31 yards on a 47% catch rate — a deep, contested-catch role that produced under 48.5 in four of the last five. A new offense, a new quarterback, and 20th-ranked opponent that allows yards are why this is a watch: the shape says under, the sample says somebody else's offense.

Back in the offense that knew how to use him, priced off a Washington year (5.6 targets, 20% share, 38-yard median). Eight and a half yards of cushion and a trailing-team script are the case; no window over 63% and the new-again role are the caveat. CLEARED — and the board cut him anyway. The tag came off Thursday morning, and by the evening pass the fantasy line had been cut AGAIN, 9 → 8.5 — two full points under our published 10.5. A market that keeps selling a cleared player is pricing a snap count nobody printed; confidence goes down with it (52→48) even though the panel median (14.05) never moved. The median (14.05) and the 100% head-to-head history are real, and now he plays. Receiving-yards line 36.5 against a 67 median says the same thing.

Nineteen yards of cushion and ten straight overs at this number to close 2025, against a defense that allowed the 23rd-most receiving yards. The reason it's three stars and not five: the tight-end room is three deep (Higbee's 14.5 line at −102 is the other live number, 80% L10; Ferguson the rookie), so the share is 13% and the role is scored as a committee. The fantasy line (5.5 vs an 11.35 median) is the same read at a worse price.
