The argument against our #1 pick
The strongest case against Liberty −7.5: the market watched the same injury report we did and moved the line the OTHER way. An open of −9.5 becoming a consensus −8.5 — with the news fully public — is exactly the shape we call "reverse line movement" when it suits us, and today we're standing in front of it because we can't see the money columns that would confirm or acquit it. Add that New York scored sixty points in its last outing, that Cloud playing (she's questionable, not out) restores Chicago's one shot-creator, and that gutted teams getting big numbers are historically live for backdoor covers in garbage time — and the case writes itself: we may be laying points with a team in a shooting slump against a side whose entire value is the number in its hand. If Cloud starts and this lands Liberty by 6, the market's move was the signal and our injury sheet was the trap.
